PLAY OR NOT TO PLAY?

Let children play, because through play, they grow curious minds, open hearts, and the courage to explore, imagine, and thrive.

Lev Vygotsky (1978)

“When children play together, they step into new roles and try things they can’t quite do alone. With support, they take social and emotional risks—and grow stronger because of it.”

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein: “Play is research. When children explore and follow their curiosity, they’re actually learning in the deepest way.”

Jean Piaget (1962)

“When children play, they’re not just having fun—they’re testing ideas. They try, fail, try again. That’s how they learn to take risks and understand the world.”

Let OUR children learn to take risk

Play supports children in learning to take risks. When children take risks, they learn to trust their abilities, make decisions, handle challenges on their own. and discover who they are.

Play as a tool for learning, problem-solving, and resilience.

TotalChild Play Series

TotalChild Play Series embraces play as the foundation of learning, allowing children to explore, connect, and express themselves. There are 5 signature Plays:

Friday is Play Day!

“Birds fly, fish swim, and children play.” – Garry Landreth

At TotalChild, Fridays are dedicated entirely to play—a day for freedom, creativity, and connection. Children explore outdoors, engage in imaginative play, and enjoy sensory experiences in a stress-free, self-directed environment.

Teachers step back as facilitators, allowing children to take the lead, build relationships, and discover the world on their own terms.

Paint Play: More Than Just Creative Expression

A Silent Symphony of Colors

At TotalChild, Paint Play is an immersive process where children stand to paint, embracing movement and creativity. The paint station, like a buffet, invites them to explore colors freely. With only three brushes per color, children develop patience, awareness, and teamwork, moving in harmony as they share space and materials.

This community painting experience fosters collaboration, non-verbal communication, and mutual understanding. In this quiet yet expressive environment, children regulate emotions, express themselves through art, and experience the therapeutic joy of creating together.

Body Play: Move, Groove & Energize!

At TotalChild, Body Play blends movement, rhythm, and creativity, allowing children and teachers to choreograph dance steps, explore body coordination, and engage in active play.

  • Coordination & Spatial Awareness
  • Brain-Body Connection & Confidence

Yoga Play: Move, Breathe & Focus

Yoga Play at TotalChild nurtures both body and mind through mindful movement and breathing. Our twice-weekly morning yoga sessions help children feel calm, centered, and ready to learn.

  • Focus & Concentration
  • Flexibility, Balance & Strength

Through movement and breath, children build confidence, resilience, and awareness.

Dramatic Play: Imagine, Express & Perform

Drama is a natural part of learning. Through role-playing, storytelling, and improvisation, children embody characters, explore emotions, and express ideas freely. This journey of imagination culminates in our yearly musical drama, where every child takes the stage with confidence.

Young Researcher Project (YRP):Project Approach

TotalChild Young Researcher Project (YRP) embodies an Inquiry-Based Curriculum, where children take the lead in exploring topics that spark their curiosity. Through questioning, investigating, and reflecting, they develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Topics emerge from children’s interests, family connections, community awareness, and global issues, such as nature, cultural traditions, science exploration, and sustainability. Guided by teachers, they engage in discussions, hands-on research, and collaborative learning.

YRP empowers children to express their thoughts, make meaningful discoveries, and understand that their ideas and voices matter—even in shaping the world they will inherit.

Guest Teacher - Parents & Community: Partners in Learning

TotalChild values working with parents and the community in children’s education. Through our Guest Teacher program, parents and community members share experiences, skills, and knowledge, enriching learning. Their involvement strengthens family bonds, boosts confidence, and nurtures curiosity through meaningful shared experiences.
